Calandula Falls by car

untouched nature

The Calandula Falls lie in the course of the Lucala River and are one of the highest in Africa with a drop of 101 m. Although the waterfalls outside Angola are not yet well known, they are among the most impressive natural wonders of Angola.

In contrast to the well-known African waterfalls, such as In the Victoria Falls, the Kalandula Falls are still a haven of tranquility. Far away from mass tourism, one can often admire and enjoy this spectacle on its own. Here you can experience the real Africa.

The province Malanje is rich in sights. The Pedras Negras "black stones" are a mystical place with an interesting history. The historic site was the venue of the resistance to the Portuguese.

Angola is one of the three countries in the world with the highest biodiversity. This is reflected especially in this region. Exotic plant life paired with rare animal species makes Malanje a breathtaking experience. Dive into the tropical forests of Angola and experience Africa in a very authentic way.

Day 1

From Luanda it goes east into the interior. On our long drive to Malange we will have our first stop in Ndalatando.

A visit to the Botanical Garden (Rosas de Porcelana) in Ndalatando will bring you closer to the biodiversity of the country. A local lunch is already waiting for you afterwards.

After lunch we will make our way to the beautiful Calandula Falls.

On our way we will always have the possibility to stop and take photos.

After reaching Calandula we will see the Falls from two perspectives if the weather permits it. First we will have the marvelous view form the top of the Falls into the countryside before we see the Falls from the bottom.

A short drive will bring us back to the hotel where we will have dinner.

Day 2

We will wake up early to see the falls and surrounding. We will discover this place once again and Afterterwards set off to the Pedras Negras.

Our way leads us through Cacuso, a little town in Malanje. If you wish we can make a stop here and get a image of the life in this small town close to Malanje city.

The "black stones" are the venue of resistance to the Portuguese conqueror. The then queen of Angola, Rainha Ginga, was the leader of the resistance. Around here the legendary stories entwine.

Afterwards we will drive back to Luanda where we will have a late lunch before we drop you at the hotel/ airport.
